The Oxy Arts Collaborate Workshop will bring a teaching artist, Oxy students, and youth from the neighboring Highland Park school district together in creative collaboration. During the first six weeks of the semester, Oxy students will learn core arts education and public engagement pedagogy. They will work with lead teaching artist Patricia Yossen and collaborate in teaching teams to develop curriculum for a Visual + Performing Arts course or Creative Writing course. In the following 6 weeks of the semester, Oxy students will collaboratively lead an after school art workshop for local middle school youth, culminating in a final public presentation.
This course is an eligibility requirement to apply for a paid position through Oxy Arts to lead after school art classes on-site at local Highland Park elementary schools starting in the Spring semester.
The course meets Monday / Wednesday from 4 - 6 pm.
Course enrollment is subject to completion of application and approval by the Oxy Arts Director. Upon approval by Oxy Arts, an enrollment waiver will allow you to complete enrollment into the course. You will be notified if you were accepted into the class before registration week.
