"Catalysis: Lessons at & Beyond the Bench"
Stanna Dorn is an aspiring academic from Grayling, MI. She obtained a B.S. in Chemistry and B.A. in Music from Hope College, where she performed organometallic research under the guidance of Prof. Jeffrey Johnson. In 2022, Dr. Dorn received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Indiana University, working with Prof. Kevin Brown to develop cooperative catalytic methods for alkene functionalization. Currently, Dr. Dorn is an NIH K99/R00 MOSAIC Scholar at Caltech, where she is investigating the synthesis of polycyclic bacterial metabolites under the supervision of Prof. Sarah Reisman. She has received numerous awards, including the NIH F32 NRSA Postdoctoral Fellowship, CAS Future Leaders Award, ACS WCC/Merck Research Award, and the IU Associate Instructor Award. Outside the lab, she enjoys reading, playing volleyball, and advocating for improvements in academic spaces.
