A watercolor and textiles workshop that is part of a series of free art-making workshops for all ages, inspired by the Invisibility: Powers and Perils exhibition.
OXY ARTS, 4757 York Blvd. LA CA 90042
Join us for the 3rd workshop of a 3-part FREE art-making workshop series. We will be creating projects inspired by our current exhibition, Invisibility: Powers & Perils, curated by Yael Lipschutz and presented in collaboration with Getty's PST ART: Art & Science Collide. The exhibit explores how both invisibility and hypervisibility impact privacy, history, and systems of knowledge on a social, environmental and cosmic level. The exhibiting artists, scientists and activists ask us to consider the dangers and complexities of how visibility functions in the world and cosmos.
Workshop #3: Watercolor & Textiles
In this workshop, we will combine watercolor painting with fabric to explore how the materials work together to create new, exciting images. Our exhibition showcases photographs of invisibility amulets from Malaysia, Ghana, Nigeria and Thailand behind embroidered curtains which the viewer must lift up to see the images. Inspired by this installation choice, we will explore how adding fabric can obscure, complicate, and transform our experience of a painting.
This is part of a FREE event series and all supplies are provided by OXY ARTS. No registration required.
