Learning Disability Specialist

Kayla is a joy-informed professional with a background in psychology and a passion for advancing equity practices in higher education. Before joining the Occidental team she earned her Ph.D. at the University of Arizona studying school psychology and researching best practices on the support of students of color. Additionally, she has extensive experience working in schools, clinical and community settings as an associate psychologist, providing neuropsychological assessments and therapeutic support for children, adolescents, and adults.

As a learning disabilities specialist, Kayla meets one-on-one with students who are struggling academically and works with them to alleviate their concerns through holistic support plans. Kayla is excited to collaborate with the greater Oxy community and to help foster more inclusive and accessible learning environments.
