Dr. Azad Paul Kurkjian is a board-certified adult and child psychiatrist specializing in neuropsychiatry. Dr. Kurkjian’s clinical interests include mood disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, ADHD and autism spectrum disorders. Dr. Kurkjian completed his undergraduate degree in psychology with a double minor in biology and chemistry from the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Kurkjian obtained his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his residency in adult psychiatry at the San Fernando Valley Residency Program at the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed his fellowship in adolescent psychiatry at Cedars – Sinai Medical Center, where he served as chief fellow. Dr. Kurkjian is interested in family therapy, and cites Dr. Sal Minuchin and Carl Whitaker as major influences. In addition to Oxy, he currently works in various outpatient psychiatric facilities, such as the Las Encinas Adolescent IOP and Wellnest, and works closely with Miller Children’s Hospital, Verdugo Hills Hospital and Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena.
